 Macy’s is one of the nation’s premier omni-channel retailers, and the company applies RFID in their management information system, which plays a crucial role in the daily operation. The RFID System Macy’s using in the operation guarantees the capability to eliminate the information silo and synchronous the work progress in different departments, such as accounting, sales, warehouse, etc. The information system also benefits the omni-channel customer experience in Macy’s. 


 Even though their management information system provides Macy’s with many advantages, Macy’s still needs to consider the setup cost and ongoing cost. By analyzing the five components of the MIS in Macy’s, hardware is one of the costly part and the company has to provide trainings to employees about RFID technology and how to use the POS system and the RFID technology. 



Macy’s focus on the omni-channel retailing recently. It is a challenge for them to manage the data collecting from sub-systems of different retailing channels, and information security needs to be paid more attention in that case. A powerful cloud can be useful for the information system.
